March 11: Zeev Jabotinsky calls for fight against The White Paper. In article "On Adventure", he calls to disobey clauses in law preventing free immigration to Eretz Israel.
1939
March 2: Etzel's underground radio station, "Voice of Fighting Zion", begins broadcasting from homes of organization supporters. Esther Raziel-Naor as first announcer.
1947
March 7: Illegal immigration ship "Ben Hecht", acquired by American League for a Free Israel, sails 600 immigrants from France to Eretz Israel. Ship captured, passengers expelled to Cyprus.
1948
March 29: Maps and measuring instruments taken by Etzel fighters from Government Survey Department in Tel Aviv. Thirty fighters participate in operation under command of Tzvi Barzel ('Cactus').
1979
March 26: Peace Treaty signed between State of Israel and Egypt. P. M. Menachem Begin, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and U.S. President Jimmy Carter participate in White House ceremony.
1990
March 15: "The Stinking Trick" (as called by Rabin) topples government under Yitzhak Shamir. Following a no-confidence vote, government falls. Nevertheless, Shamir re-forms a government.
1992
March 9: Former Prime Minister Menachem Begin passes away. As he requested, buried on Mount of Olives, alongside Olei HaGardom Meir Feinstein and Moshe Barazani.
2001
March 7: Ariel Sharon (Likud) presents his first National Unity Government to Knesset, defeating Ehud Barak in individual elections for prime minister, with slogan "Only Sharon Will Bring Peace.
