June 30: First Political Assassination in Eretz Israel. Hagana members shoot Dr. Jacob De Haan, Agudat Israel leader, in Jerusalem. De Haan had become ultra- religious, writing articles criticizing Zionism.
1931
June 16: Brit Hatzohar "HaAm" Revisionist newspaper forbidden publication, for having published ostensibly inciting material "against the authorities". Published from May 1930.
1934
June 26: Premiere screening of Zeev Jabotinsky's filmed speech in Warsaw. Produced by Eclar Tiraz Film Studios in Paris, on topic "Let the Jews Immigrate to Eretz Israel".
1941
June 1-2: 'Parhod': Iraqi Jews massacred. 179 killed in Baghdad. Jewish property looted and burned. Events catalyze growth of Zionist underground in Iraq and Iraqi Jewish immigration to Eretz Israel.
1946
June 29: Black Sabbath: General curfew imposed, responding to "Night of the Bridges" and Hagana, Palmach, Etzel and Lehi collaboration. Jewish Agency National Council and Hagana members imprisoned.
1948
June 5-10: Defenders of Mishmar HaYarden – Etzel fighters and Moshav members bravely fight Syrian Army, until surrender. 46 people taken prisoner, 12 fighters fallen in battle.
1967
June 8: Nahum Levin dies. Etzel unit commander, active in Hatzohar and Betar Eretz Israel activist. Jabotinsky Institute board member. Herut Movement Knesset member in Third to Fifth Knessets.
1977
June 20: Menachem Begin presents first government under his leadership. Appoints Moshe Dayan as Foreign Minister, from Labor Party. Shortly after Begin visting U.S. as guest of President Jimmy Carter.
1987
June 29: Shmuel Tamir dies. Etzel commander, and among deportees to Africa. Justice Minister and Knesset member from sixth to ninth Knessets, as Gahal, Free Centre, Likud and Shinui member.
