1917
January 20: NILI members Yosef Lishansky and Avshalom Feinberg attacked by Bedouins in Sinai Desert on way to Egypt. Lishansky completed his mission to pass information to the British.
1926
January 8-9: 'Histadrut HaZionim HaAmlanim' established in opposition to 'Hapoel Hatzair', politically identified with Brit Hatzohar – Union of Zionist Revisionists – and advocating for national arbitration.
1928
January 28: Beit Trumpeldor dedicated at 84 HaCarmel Street, Tel Aviv. Later became Metzudat Zeev (1937), and Beit Jabotinsky (1965). Likud, Jabotinsky Institute, Betar and Etzel Museum housed there.
1933
End of January: Ramat Tiomkin, first Revisionist settlement, established. Named for Vladimir Zeev Tiomkin (1861-1927), among first Herzl supporters and founders of Revisionist Movement.
1946
January 12: Etzel attack on British "Money" Train near Hadera, confiscating 35,000 Lira belonging to British government, in order to finance Etzel's war.
1952
January 9: Violent confrontations against reparations agreement opposite Knesset building. Knesset Member Menachem Begin, Herut Party chairman, speaks at demonstration in which thousands clash with police forces.
1978
January 4: Aharon Zvi Propes dies, the "First Betar Member". Initiated establishment of Betar Movement, Netziv Betar Poland (1929-1939), journalist and founded music projects.
1991
January 17: Gulf War breaks out. Airplanes of U.S. and coalition states strike Iraq. Forty SCUD missiles fired over Israel. Prime Minister Shamir preserves restraint.
1996
January 22: Dr. Israel Eldad (Scheib), Central Lehi member, writer, teacher and publicist. Injured in effort to escape British, freed from prison in daring action (1946).
